Its an old myth and we have all heard it – if girls lift weights they will sooner or later “start looking like men”. Hmm, you recon?
Weeell no not quite. To look like the crazy bodybuilding ladies we see on TV you would basically either need loads of steroids or actually have a penis.
Resistance training with weights is a great calorie burner and excellent way to tone up. Even if you don’t necessarily loose weight as a direct effect, your body will replace the fatty tissue with muscle and therefore help you shed inches. Another thing you need to think about is that with greater muscle mass comes higher rates of metabolism, which means that you will burn more during the whole day (doing “nothing”) than you would have with less muscles. Your metabolism is also increased as your muscles repair from the workouts. All of this means that calories are burned by Bodypump at an increased rate long after you finish the Bodypump class.

Basically, lifting makes your body build muscle, with increased muscle mass on your body you require more energy day to day, which will result in a greater rate of wiight/fat loss, if you so choose. Ya’ll got it? So darling, tell me again why I shouldn’t lift.
